Sarah Strong continued her reign as Big East Player of the Week Monday while Blanca Quiñonez made a strong first impression in her debut with the UConn women's basketball team.

The Huskies swept the conference's weekly awards as Strong was named the top player for the second straight week while Quiñonez was named the Big East Freshman of the Week.

Strong, the Big East Preseason Player of the Year, averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 4.5 steals, and 3.0 blocked shots as UConn (4-0) defeated Loyola of Chicago 85-31 Wednesday and Ohio State 100-68 Sunday. The sophomore forward had her second double-double of the season against the Buckeyes with 29 points and 13 rebounds while adding seven assists, five steals, and three blocked shots.
Through two weeks, Strong leads the Big East in scoring (20.5) and field-goal percentage (61.1), is second in assists (5.0) and blocked shots (2.5), and third in rebounds (8.8) and steals (3.3).
Quiñonez averaged 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in her two games. After missing the Huskies' games with Louisville and Florida State, the forward came off the bench and had five points in 14 minutes against Loyola then broke out for 18 points and four rebounds in 23 minutes against the Buckeyes.

UConn, which was ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll released Monday, will play in the Naismith Hall of Fame Women's Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena this weekend, taking on No. 6 Michigan Friday night and Utah out of the Big 12 Sunday afternoon. It will be the Huskies' first meeting with both the Wolverines and the Utes.
