The National Weather Service says summer like weather will return Tuesday and Wednesday along with high humidity levels.

And by the end of the week, evening temperatures will be in the low 40s with some northwestern Connecticut towns dipping in the 30s.

High pressure will remain across the northeast Monday and Tuesday with dry conditions expected. Skies will be partly cloudy.

Highs today will be in the mid to upper 60s.

Clouds increase tonight as temperatures fall to lows ranging from the lower 50s across interior southern Connecticut to the mid 50s along the coast.

Warmer air moves into the area Tuesday into Wednesday with highs Tuesday in the mid to upper 70s under mostly cloudy conditions.

Wednesday will likely see record setting temperatures across most of the region as temperatures rise well above normal. Highs are expected to range in the 80s.

The record high for Oct. 2 is 87 at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks; 84 in Greenwich; 83 at Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford; and 82 degrees in Danbury and New Haven.

According to the Northeast Regional Climate Center, September’s average temperatures has been nearly 2 degrees above normal in southern Connecticut. Bradley airport about one degree above average.

The hottest day of the month was on Sept. 23 when the temperature hit 89 degrees in Danbury

Rainfall for the month was well below normal. Danbury has received just .73 of an inch; the average is 4.12 inches.

Sikorsky airport had .93 of an inch, well below the average 3.35 inches.

Help with nearly an inch of rain on Sept. 2, Bradley airport had a total of 1.93 inches; about 2 inches below average.
