Aubrey Griffin will miss the remainder of the 2021-2022 season after undergoing back surgery on Monday to repair a disc injury, UConn announced Wednesday night.

The junior’s recovery is expected to be four months.

Griffin had yet to play this season. During the preseason she had a ankle sprain that sidelined her before her back injury resurfaced and kept her out.

The Ossining, N.Y. played in 32 games as a freshman reserve two years ago, averaging 6.4 points and 5.4 rebounds. Last season, she averaged 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 29 games, including five starts.

UConn is also with Paige Bueckers, who is recovering from surgery and should return in February. Freshman guard Azzi Fudd has been out with a foot injury and sophomore guard Nika Muhl recently returned from a foot injury.
