Galentine’s Day is Feb. 13.
The holiday was created and popularized by TV show "Parks and Recreation" as a day of "ladies celebrating ladies." It's the day before Valentine's Day, and it's all about getting friends together to honor female friendships.
And while below you'll find suggestions for donuts and shopping and brunch and cooking classes, Galentine's Day is more than that. It's about reflecting on the women who have made you who you are and celebrating the women around you now.
Read on for five ideas to celebrate the female friendships in your life.

Grab some sweet donuts and whisk your girls away for a shopping excursion. For example, check out Grounds Donut House, which is a bit of a punk rock donut shop. With a skull in its logo and an in-store playlist featuring Alice in Chains, Machine Gun Kelly and Green Day, how could it not be? There are a few consistent donut flavors, such as fruity pebbles, churro and maple bacon, along with weekly rotating flavors like coffee cake, Kit Kat and raspberry white chocolate.
Make use of that caffeine-and-donut sugar high by heading five minutes down the road to Danbury Fair Mall for a Galentine’s shopping spree at stores like Newbury Comics, Anthropology and Primark. If you're not in the Danbury area, check out this list of more than a dozen local donut shops around the state.
