The only way for this community effort to work is if we all pick up our oars and move this ship forward to produce a better, more effective policy.

And maybe take a look at the way our community pressures our young people to excel in all they do at any cost.

A new commitment? Darien superintendent, board discuss revamping school’s substance abuse policy

Dr. Dan Brenner, superintendent of Darien schools, says the current substance use commitment policy for students in extra-curricular activities is inconsistent and ineffective. “This is a community problem, not a superintendent problem,” said Brenner, highlighting just how important it is to take this discussion and involve parents, coaches, administrators, teachers, police, and other community members to come up with the best solution.
