The Darien boys lacrosse team recently celebrated a milestone head coach Jeff Brameier and the program when the Blue Wave topped the Wilton Warriors 18-6 for Brameier's 600th career win.

Brameier is the state’s all-time winningest coach, having passed New Canaan’s Howard Benedict (551) back in 2017.

Darien’s first FCIAC championship, when they defeated perennial contender Wilton in the conference final.

1997

Darien’s first state championship as the Blue Wave topped Greenwich 14-8 in the CIAC Div. I final. Darien had been the state runner-up for four years from 1991 to 1994 before winning the title in 1997.

Perfect seasons — all 23-0 — for the Blue Wave. They first accomplished the feat in 2005, and did it again in 2014 and in back-to-back seasons in 2016 and 2017.

Darien, which is ranked No. 1 in the state, played in the inaugural Geico High School Lacrosse Showcase at St. Anthony’s (NY) this weekendand lost a pair of close games. The Wave fell to Seton Hall Prep (NJ) 12-11 in overtime on Saturday, before dropping an 11-9 decision to host St. Anthony’s on Sunday.
