GIRLS GOLF Darien makes FCIACs led by its leading player. \u201cEmily Cohen was the top player in the FCIAC this year,\u201d said Darien girls\u2019 golf coach Brian Zeyer. \u201cGirls keep improving throughout the year.\u201d Darien is seventh in the state with seven FCIAC teams in the top 10. \u201cWe had to win the last two to make FCIACs and Ridgefield had to lose to Greenwich and it all worked out for use,\u201d said Zeyer. \u201cWe beat Warde which was the number one team in the state to get in.\u201d Cohen led Darien with a 40 in the Wave\u2019s win over Warde at Country Club of Darien on May 16. Darien won 200-201. Bridget Wolters shot 46, Haley Meier 54, Eliza Koorbusch 60, Caroline Martzolf 61, Ashley Amirsakis 63. Darien beat Danbury 178-224 at Fairchild Wheeler on May 24. Cohen shot 39, Wolters 41, Meier 48, Amirsakis and Martzolf 50 each and Koorbusch 63. The Wave beat Wilton 178-176 at Silver Mine on May 22.
