League topper Cohen leads Wave into post-season
Darien makes FCIACs led by its leading player.
“Emily Cohen was the top player in the FCIAC this year,” said Darien girls’ golf coach Brian Zeyer. “Girls keep improving throughout the year.”
Darien is seventh in the state with seven FCIAC teams in the top 10.
“We had to win the last two to make FCIACs and Ridgefield had to lose to Greenwich and it all worked out for use,” said Zeyer. “We beat Warde which was the number one team in the state to get in.”
Cohen led Darien with a 40 in the Wave’s win over Warde at Country Club of Darien on May 16.
Darien won 200-201.
Bridget Wolters shot 46, Haley Meier 54, Eliza Koorbusch 60, Caroline Martzolf 61, Ashley Amirsakis 63.
Darien beat Danbury 178-224 at Fairchild Wheeler on May 24.
Cohen shot 39, Wolters 41, Meier 48, Amirsakis and Martzolf 50 each and Koorbusch 63.
The Wave beat Wilton 178-176 at Silver Mine on May 22.
