The Darien boys lacrosse team may not have had head coach Jeff Brameier on the sidelines, but it was business as usual as the Blue Wave routed the Ludlowe Falcons, 20-2, in the FCIAC quarterfinals Monday afternoon at DHS,

Brameier has been in Colorado since Saturday for his son’s graduation ceremony at Colorado College.

His Darien team was still in fine form, as the Wave rolled out to leads of 9-1 after one quarter and 14-1 at halftime en route to the victory.

With its win streak now at 71, the top-seeded Wave (17-0) will move into the FCIAC semifinals, where it will clash with No. 4 Wilton (12-5) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Brien McMahon High School. Wilton advanced with an 8-4 win over Staples on Monday.

It will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, and Darien won the first, 12-6, on April 21 at DHS.

The Wave racked up big points against Ludlowe, with Brian Minicus leading the way. The senior co-captain led Darien in goals with six and assists with four.

Hudson Pokorny had five points in two goals and three assists, while Henri Pfeifle and Michael Minicus each had a hat trick. Pfeifle also dished out one assist.

Also filling the stat sheet were Ryan O'Neil (1 goals, 2 assists), Jack Bogdan (2 assists), Jack Joyce (3 assists), Ethan Dewbrey (2 assists), Blake Sommi, Tommy Hellman, and Logan McGovern (1 goal each), and Charlie Walsh and Holt Matheis (1 assist each).

The defense was led by the stellar play of goalies Sean Collins and Andy DeMopoulos, and defenders Andrew Darby, Matt Gould, Tyler Strub, Sam Cragin, Charlie Olsen, Connor Olson, Pierce Hoyda, Bruce Ferguson and Blake Cellar.

Tanner Strub and Matt Freeman had another tremendous day at the faceoff X.
