The Darien Blue Wave has reached the CIAC Class L girls tennis championship match, and a familiar foe is waiting.

The Blue Wave will face the Staples Wreckers for the third time this season when the two teams meet in the final at 3 p.m., today, Thursday, at the Wilton High School tennis courts. They’ve split their first two matches, with Darien winning 5-2 during the regular season, and Staples winning 4-3 in the FCIAC final.

No. 3 Darien (21-1), defeated No. 2 Daniel Hand in the semis, 6-1, while No. 4 Staples (22-1), knocked off No. 1 Glastonbury 4-3 in a rematch of last year’s Class L final.

The Wave survived some tough challenges from the Daniel Hand Tigers.

In the No. 1 singles match, Darien’s Lilly Ma remained unbeaten, but had to rally from a first-set loss against Hand’s Sam Riordan to get the victory. Ma won in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

At second singles, Darien’s Emilia Callery won a tight second set and defeated Lindsay Riordan 6-3, 7-6.

The Wiley sisters scored two-set wins in their matches, with Emily defeating Annie Barrett in third singles 6-2, 6-1, and Katie defeating Ellie Weinstein in fourth singles 6-1, 6-0.

The Tigers picked up their point in the No. 1 doubles match, as Anna Lang and Lee Jiaen defeated Emily Neuner and Juliet Homes 6-4, 7-6.

No. 2 doubles went to Darien’s Elaina Cummiskey and Quin Wolters, who beat Nicki Goldfeder and Neil Karas 6-4, 6-0; and No. 3 doubles went to Darien’s Caroline Homes and Daniela Castellanos, who defeated Jennie Burris and Claire Nelson 6-2, 6-0
