The Darien Blue Wave picked up an important victory in the FCIAC girls basketball playoff race with a 34-32 decision over the Danbury Hatters Tuesday at DHS.

The Wave, which has won three of its last four games, climbed back to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall and is now 5-3 and in eighth place in the FCIAC. Danbury fell to 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Darien had another big game from senior co-captain Katie Ramsay, who scored a game-best 17 points. Ramsay also had 20 in a win over Brien McMahon last Friday, giving her 37 in the last two games.

Sophomore Lindsay Dimonekas was next for Darien with seven points, senior co-captain Christine Fiore added six, and sophmore Kelly Richter had four.

For Danbury, Azaria Baptizte scored 14 points, and Tanisha Cunningham scored seven.

The victory begins a tough stretch of the schedule for the Blue Wave, which will face many of the FCIAC’s front-runners over the next few weeks. Darien will play at Stamford (7-4) on Friday, with games against Wilton (6-3), Ridgefield (7-3) and Warde (8-1) to follow.
