Darien boys lax places eight on All-FCIAC First Team; Brameier Coach of the Year
The Darien Blue Wave boys lacrosse team placed eight players on the All-FCIAC First Team and had 16 honored overall as the conference announced its postseason awards on Tuesday.
Head coach Jeff Brameier was also named the FCIAC Coach of the Year after guiding Darien to a 19-0 record and a five consecutive conference championship.
The Wave enters the CIAC Class L tournament as the No. 1 seed, with a 73-game winning streak dating back to 2015
Making the First Team are senior co-captains Logan McGovern and Brian Minicus on attack, Andrew Darby on defense, and Blake Sommi at a short stick defensive midfielder.
Also earning spots on the First Team are seniors Jack Joyce at midfield, Matt Gould on defense, Tanner Strub on faceoffs, and Sean Collins at goalie.
Four Darien players were named to the ALL-FCIAC Second Team. That group includes senior Charlie Olsen, a long stick middie; and juniors Hudson Pokorny on attack, Henri Pfeifle at midfield, and Tyler Strub on defense.
Voted to the All-East Division team is sophomore midfielder Jackson Peters.
Earning honorable mentions are three juniors: Long stick middie Connor Olson, middie Tommy Hellman, and short stick defensive middie Ryan Darby.
