Darien boys lacrosse receives CHSCA Team of the Year honors; three players named All-Americans
The Darien Blue Wave regained the Class L boys lacrosse championship this season and has been named the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Boys Lacrosse Team of the Year.
The Wave, which went 17-5 overall, grabbed an early lead in the final and romped to a 13-3 win over the Wilton Warriors in the Class L final on Saturday. Darien outscored its four state playoff opponents 62-15, and knocked off three fellow FCIAC teams on the way to the crown.
Darien also had three players receive All-America honors: Senior attack Hudson Pokorny, junior midfielder Jackson Peters, and senior long pole defenseman Tyler Strub.
Those three were also part of a group of five Darien players to earn CHSCA All-State first team honors, joining seniors Blake Cellar, a long stick defensive middie, and Bruce Ferguson, a short stick defensive middie.
Senior midfielder Tommy Hellman, senior FOGO Matt Freeman, and junior attack Michael Minicus received All-State second team honors.
