Darien’s Bennett McDermott had a night to remember.

The sophomore racked up four goals and dished out one assist to help lead the Blue Wave boys ice hockey team to a resounding 8-2 victory over the Norwalk/Brien McMahon co-op team Wednesday night at the SoNo Ice House.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Darien, which improved to 4-8 overall and 3-1 in the FCIAC. Norwalk/McMahon fell to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

In addition to McDermott’s five-point performance, the Wave also had two goals and an assist from senior Parker McLane, and one goal and two assists from senior Will Johnston.

Junior Hudson Pokorny also notched a goal, while juniors James Gregory and Matt Daileader and sophomore Rob Stewart each had an assist.

Darien led from start to finish, taking a 2-0 lead after one period and a 4-1 lead after two. The Wave put the game away with four goals in the third period.

Darien will be back in action at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, when it hosts the Westhill/Stamford co-op (4-4 overall, 2-2 FCIAC) at the Darien Ice House.
