Where they're headed: Darien lacrosse stars ready for college stage
After playing in the Darien High School lacrosse programs for four years, the Blue Wave’s recently-graduated seniors are primed and ready to take their talents to the next level.
For the Blue Wave girls, seven players are moving on to play in college, including co-captain Katie Ramsay, a midfielder extraordinaire and captain in three sports for the Wave. Ramsay will head west to play midfield for the University of Southern California Trojans next season.
Christine Fiore, an attacker and another three-sport star and captain, will join the United States Naval Academy’s women’s lacrosse team.
Co-captains Emma Jaques, a midfielder, and Kendall Wisinski, an attacker, will also play at the next level, with Jaques suiting up for Northwestern University, and Wisinski representing the University of Richmond Spiders.
Attacker Charlotte Harmon will play for the University of Florida Gators; defender Lauren Jennings will play at Colby College; and Lindsey Ferreira will play for Lynchburg College.
The Blue Wave boys will have 11 players moving on to the college stage next year, including co-captain and Connecticut Player of the Year Logan McGovern. McGovern, an attackman, will play for the Bryant College Bulldogs.
The Colgate Raiders are getting a pair of top-notch lacrosse players at opposite ends of the field, as co-captain Brian Minicus joins the attack, and goalie Sean Collins joins the defense.
Co-captain Andrew Darby will play defense for the Michigan Wolverines, while co-captain Blake Sommi, a short stick defensive midfielder, will play for Tufts University.
Midfielder Jack Joyce will play at the University of Pennsylvania, with defenseman Matt Gould playing for Providence College.
The Trinity College Bantams will feature two incoming Blue Wave players in long stick middie Charlie Olsen, and midfielder Ryan O'Neil.
Attacker Ethan Dewbrey will play at Kenyon College, and long stick middie Connor Sullivan will play for Endicott College.
