Wave by the numbers: Hockey and hoops playoffs and postseason swim for Darien

Hockey, basketball and swimming are in the spotlight in this week’s Wave by the numbers.

6-0 Score of the Darien boys ice hockey team’s victory over Trumbull in the FCIAC quarterfinals on Saturday. The Wave are the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and will host No. 4 Ridgefield in the semifinals at 4 p.m., Wednesday, at the Darien Ice House.

6 Players who scored in the FCIAC quarterfinal win. Patrick Thurlow, Graham Kreppein, Tauson Pfeifle, Jack Collins, Asa Beach, and Arthur Devillers all had goals.

12-7-1 Darien’s record heading into the FCIAC semis. The Blue Wave will also be the No. 6 seed in the CIAC Div. I tournament, which begins next week.

3-0 Score of Darien’s loss to the Stamford/Westhill/Staples co-op in the FCIAC girls ice hockey semis last Wednesday. The SWS co-op scored once in each period to advance to the conference final for the first time in program history.

14-3-2 Darien’s record heading into the CHSGHA state tournament. The Wave is the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and will host No. 7 Conard-Hall in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Darien Ice House.

9-11 Record of the Darien boys basketball team during the regular season. The Blue Wave has qualified for the CIAC Div. III tournament as the No. 23 seed. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Tues., March 8.

3/3 Date of the FCIAC boys swim finals at Greenwich High School. The competition will get underway at 6:30 p.m., Thursday.
