Schrohe, Beauton advance to semifinals at Borck Junior

Greenwich’s Charles Schrohe upended top seed Connor Goode 2 and 1 Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the 53rd Borck Junior Championship at Woodway Country Club in Darien.

Schrohe, the No. 8 seed, will face No. 4 Cameron Besaw (unattached) in Wednesday morning’s semifinals. Besaw needed 19 holes to eliminate Andrew Flynn (Patterson Club) in the afternoon quarterfinals.

Andrew Beauton (Pine Orchard CC) advanced to the semifinals with a 1-up victory over Colin Firda (St. Joseph High), Robby Rosati (Great River GC) eliminated Fritz Smith 5 and 4 in the other quarterfinal.

On the girls side, defending champion Mia Holbrook (Silver Spring CC) reached Wednesday’s semifinals by defeating Paige McKenna (Tashua Knolls GC) 5 and 4. She will face Waterbury’s Laniah Moffet, who eliminated top seed Kenna Roman of Berlin 3 and 2.

Katie Hong (Greenwich CC) and Isabella Hassan (Rolling Hills CC) will meet in the other semifinal. The girls and boys final will be held Wednesday afternoon.
