The Darien boys swimming and diving team kicked off its season with a convincing 97-79 victory over Wilton on Dec. 20.

The Blue Wave swept every event in the dominating win at the Darien YMCA.

In the first event, Darien’s 200 medley relay of Scotty Tuck, John Barsanti, Connor Martin, and Nico Clark prevailed with a time of 1:43.37.

Jack Stobbie won the 200 freestyle (1:53.06), followed by victories from Tuck (2:03.19) in the 200 individual medley, and Martin (22.43) in the 50 freestyle.

Matthew Magnotta placed first in diving with a score of 245.175.

Next, Harry FitzPatrick placed first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.98, and then Martin won his third event of the meet with a time of 50.23 in the 100 freestyle.

Ryan Roberts then won the 500 freestyle (5:00.79), followed by a Darien win in a 200 freestyle relay, as Max Scalise, Barsanti, Davis Tuzinkiewicz, and Michael Mostofi clocked a :35.59. Stobbie then placed first again in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.44, followed by Clark in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.10).

Tuck, Thomas Dupont, Clark, and Martin put the exclamation point on the win, by taking first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:27.86.

Darien will return to action after the holidays with road meets against Danbury and Fairfield next week.
