Darien’s Brian Minicus, the leading scorer on the Colgate men’s lacrosse team, recently received two Patriot League honors, including a spot on the league’s first team.

The senior attack was also named to the All-Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse All-Academic team.

In 13 games this spring, Minicus collected 36 goals and 23 assists for 59 points, leading the Raiders (4-9) in all three categories. His 36 goals ranked third in the Patriot League, and he scored multiple goals in all but one game.

He was named to the All-Patriot league second team as a junior last season.

Minicus finished his Colgate career with 68 goal and 65 assists in 39 games.

“I am so proud to see Brian's name among the top of the Patriot League players,” Colgate coach Matt Karweck told colgateathletics.com. “Brian is the ultimate competitor, the ultimate teammate, and an unstoppable force. He is lightning fast, and deadly around the crease. What you love most about Brian though, is that he was such an incredible teammate. Guys looked up to him, they hung on his every word, and they watched his brilliance on the field.

“I'm so happy for Brian, he deserves every bit of this recognition."

Minicus has played alongside his younger brother Michael at Colgate for the past two seasons.

Michael, a sophomore attack, was second on the team with 21 goals this season. In his career, he has 29 goals and seven assists in 23 games.

The Raiders’ roster features five former Blue Wave players.

In addition to the Minicus brothers, Colgate had sophomore Colin Ruppenstein and junior Bruce Ferguson at midfield, and senior Sean Collins at goalie.

Ruppenstein played 12 games this season, starting nine times, and had five goals and two assists.
