Darien girls hockey romps to third straight victory

The Darien girls ice hockey team won its third straight game to open the season with a 9-0 shutout of the Stamford/Westhill/Staples co-op Saturday at the Darien Ice House.

The Wave had previously beaten rival New Canaan 2-1, and the Fairfield co-op 9-2.

Darien scored twice in the first two minutes against SWS, with Morgan Massey’s goal with an assist from Kelsey Brown coming at the 54-second mark to set the tone.

Lucie Edwards had two goals and an assist, and Kelly Raymond had three assists to lead the offense, and Olivia Toscano added a pair of goals.
