Darien boys basketball tops Ludlowe in FCIAC's first round

The Darien boys basketball team delivered a dominating second half and defeated Ludlowe 51-40 in the opening round of the FCIAC playoffs Tuesday in Fairfield.

Ludlowe led 20-17 at halftime, but the Blue Wave took the lead with a 15-6 third quarter and outscored the Falcons 32-20 in the second half.

Darien (6-7), the No. 9 seed in the tournament, will now take on No. 1 Ridgefield (13-0) in the FCIAC quarterfinals on Friday at 7 p.m. in Ridgefield. The Tigers routed No. 17 Bridgeport Central 101-55 in Tuesday’s first round.

The Wave was led by Miles Drake and Karson Drake, each of whom scored 11 points. Simeon Doll netted nine points and Amir Presto scored seven.

For Ludlowe (6-7), James Mockler had a team-high 11 points, with Connor Lawlor netting nine and Erik Leonard scoring eight.
