The Golden State Warriors handed the Boston Celtics their first back-to-back losses of the 2022 playoffs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday with a 104 – 94 home victory, thanks to a herculean effort from Andrew Wiggins. You read that right. Wiggins, not Steph Curry, led the charge on Monday with 26 points. In fact, Game 5 was the first playoff game in Steph’s illustrious career that he didn’t make a 3-pointer, going 0-9 from behind the arc and finishing with just 16 points.
The Warriors winning with Steph shooting just 9-22 from the field and the team as a whole going 9-40 (22.5%) from deep is a bad sign for the Celtics. Behind solid performances from Wiggins, Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, Gary Payton II, and even Draymond Green, Steph’s 16 points were more than enough for a double-digit win.
