$4M Connecticut home has 132 acres of land with two 6-acre ponds

The home on 90 Route 148 in Killingworth has over 4,200 square feet of living space, but that doesn’t come close to the wide-open landscape the house sits on.

Listed for $3.995 million, the Killingworth home has 132 acres of land and is bordered by a land conservation area as well as water company land, according to the listing. The expansive property also contains woods, walking trails and waterfalls, the listing notes, as well as a tennis court and two 6-acre ponds. The home itself overlooks Murray Pond, which the listing notes was previously the site of a “historic mill property dating back to the pre-Colonial period.”

On the estate is a main house with six bedrooms and five full bathrooms. Wood details in the home range from exposed beams to wood-plank ceilings and even a wood-paneled elevator. Also lined in wood is the wine room, which offers floor to ceiling shelves for individual bottles of wine and display shelves to show off several bottles at a time, and it has a glassed-in shelving unit for storing cigars. The home's walkout basement has a game room currently outfitted with a billiards table and a wet bar.

The main house has “two levels of wrap-around decks,” according to the listing, offering outdoor entertaining and dining space overlooking Murray Pond. The decks might also have in view the homes additional features: the “multiple outbuildings” that the listing notes are “within easy walking distance of the main house.”

The home’s additional buildings include stone fireplaces, additional kitchens and indoor-outdoor living spaces.
