NEWTOWN — A man from White Plains, N.Y., is facing several charges after wrong-way driving and crashing on Interstate 84.

The crash happened near Exit 9 around 11 p.m. Saturday, when a 2010 Hyundai Genesis heading east on the westbound side of the highway veered into the shoulder and crashed into a concrete ramp.

The 27-year-old driver passed a standardized field sobriety test, according to state police.

The vehicle was towed from the scene with damage that disabled the vehicle, and the driver — who claimed to be uninjured — was charged with driving the wrong way on a highway, reckless driving and failure to maintain proper lane.
