DARIEN — Police say a man reported being followed from a bus stop before he was robbed and beaten at a local home this month.

Darien police said Tuesday they responded to a home on Hecker Avenue on April 4 for a report of an assault.

The victim told police he had gotten off the bus on nearby Post Road and his assailant followed him along Hecker Avenue, the report stated.

When he got to the home, the suspect “approached him and began to struggle with him,” police said.

The victim told police he managed to break free and ran up the driveway of a home where he was doing work, entering through an unlocked door. The man told police the assailant then forced the door open and began punching the victim and stole cash from his pocket, the report stated.

Police said the suspect was last seen walking toward Post Road. The victim sustained injuries to his face, but declined medical treatment, according to police.
