Laurence Victor Cochrane II, 51, founder of Active Air Solutions in New Canaan, died on Monday, Aug. 10, at home in Norwalk.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the oldest of three sons born to Hugh V. Cochrane and Alice Haggerty Cochrane. His father the former CFO of Saks Fifth Avenue moved the family to Darien in 1974 from Pittsburgh. Mr. Cochrane graduated from Darien High School in 1982. He attended The University of Virginia and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics in 1986, and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

He married Kelsey Brit Reed of Kirkland, Washington in 2008, an account executive with specialty chemicals manufacturer Ashland Inc.

He was the former northeast fleet manager for Enterprise Rent A Car, and the director of US business development for Pursuit Dynamics. In 2012 he founded Active Air Solutions a provider of energy efficient indoor air quality systems. The Darien Public Library recently installed a system to improve their indoor air quality.

Above all, Mr. Cochrane was a devoted and loving father and husband. His passions were cooking, The University of Virginia, sports, and his many friends. Mr. Cochrane especially enjoyed preparing lavish meals for them, whether in their kitchens or his own. He loved the game of golf and fully enjoyed his membership at Wee Burn Country Club.

He is survived by his wife Kelsey, a daughter Ryan Alexandra, 7, a son Quinn Jameson, 6, two brothers Hugh V. of London, England, and Allan R. of Vero Beach, FL, and his mother Alice Cochrane Betts and stepfather David Betts of Amanda, OH.

A memorial service was held on Aug. 15 at the First Congregational Church of Darien where he was an active member.

Memorial contributions may be made to an education trust for the benefit of his children Ryan and Quinn Cochrane.
