Dorothy Cecelia Mullen of Venice, FL, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 9. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was 101-years-old.

Born December 27, 1915, she was the daughter of Catherine A. and William H. Potterton of Brookline and Hull, MA.

Dorothy was a graduate of Brookline High School where she was a member of the debating team with journalist Mike Wallace as well as a school mate of the renowned artist Edna Hibel and the Chamberlayne School of Design. She worked in Boston as a model and buyer and later as an interior decorator for McGregor & Co.

Her passions included her family, reading, needlepoint, fashion, and interior design.

For fifty-two years, she was married to John J. Mullen Jr., a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and a retired Lever Brothers Company executive, making their home in Milton, MA, Baltimore, MD, and Darien, CT, before moving to Venice, FL. For many years they were members of the Venice Yacht Club as well as the Hull Yacht Club where they chaired the social committee and Mr. Mullen was a past Commodore.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth M. Mandell of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Darien, CT, Linda T. Haesche (Stephen) of Punta Gorda, FL, and Joanne K. Mullen of Darien, CT. Grandchildren, Katherine Thomson (Mark) of Glenside, PA, and Susannah McGee (Patrick) of Marblehead, MA, great-grandchildren, Julia T. Thomson, Grace S. Thomson of Glenside, PA, Jack W. McGee of Marblehead, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and sister, Mary Patricia Potterton, an attorney of Hull, MA.

A private inurnment will take place in the Milton Cemetery, Milton, MA.
