Letter: Capitalist is not a bad word
To the Editor:
On Face the Nation this week CBS's Margaret Brennan pressed presidential candidate and former Democratic governor of Colorado John Hickenlooper, a business owner, if he was a capitalist or not. He was reluctant to say so. She had to ask him numerous times and he continued to dodge the question.
He finally conceded and said "yes I'm a capitalist," but mitigated it as if it was bad word. It's crazy, 21st-century liberals are more comfortable with saying "socialism" than they are "capitalism." This is a capitalist nation and Darien more than others is a capitalist town. America is not a socialist nation and not a communist nation. Capitalism is the foundation of this country and is responsible for its success.
