To the Editor:

I just read the article in today’s paper about the Police Departments hopes to maintain space at Pear Tree Point Beach. The article stated that “The space has been partially washed away by storms.” I also heard this comment made at the Police Commission meeting I attended last week. This is completely inaccurate. The building is intact, nothing has washed away. In fact, these buildings at the beach have stood the test of time. Was this just another tactic being used to support the need for a new two story very expensive building at this small charming beach? Probably. But anyone can walk around the outside of these buildings and see that they are still standing in their entirety.

Delice Bolotin

In response to Ms. Bolotin’s letter, Darien Police Chief Donald Anderson told The Darien Times, “Not sure exactly what was said, but I think perhaps that that statement, or any similar statement, was largely hyperbole. ‘Tis true that the building was significantly flooded with seawater but I am unaware of any part of the building truly being ‘washed away.’”
