To the Editor:

On Tuesday, Jan. 26, we had our vaccine injection appointment at 1 p.m. Because it began snowing heavily at noon, we decided to drive over to the Mather Center and wait in the parking lot. By the time we got there, it was a beehive of activity. Town employees were already working on the walkways and parking lot, ensuring safety. A steady stream of us were headed in and out. Folks by themselves, in couples, with assistance and without. Inside, we were all greeted and instructed as to the procedure. Sanitary conditions, distancing, simple paper work, well-administered injections, a 15-minute follow-up waiting period and scheduling for the second injection.

The team was superb. Professional, caring, helpful. Beth and Stacey and the Mather Center team, Ali and her group of Human Services folks, Dave Knauf and the health department team and many more. It was a perfect example of the inter-generational nature of our town and we would encourage everyone who is eligible to take advantage of this great in-town gift. A final thought. All of us on the receiving end should consider how we, through our own talents and time, can return the care bestowed on us.
