To the Editor:

Today as an “over 75” senior, I received the first dose of my Moderna COVID-19 vaccine through the Darien Town Hall. I was impressed with how well organized the system was, and pleased that I was given a specific date for the second dose of the vaccine.

In recent weeks, it has been frustrating that so little information was available about the town’s plans, but I now believe that a decision must have been made to wait until a definite procedure was in place and could be rolled out efficiently. To do otherwise would have possibly resulted in misinformation or in unrealistically raising expectations — under-promise and over-deliver.

We need to get our teachers and school staff vaccinated, and to move as quickly as possible to vaccinate the over 65s and then the population generally. This can’t come soon enough, but the town is dependent upon vaccine supply. At least with the group at the top of the priority list, the town is doing a good job.

And I am sure our town leadership shares the goal of getting as many of our citizens protected as soon as possible.
