To the Editor:

On behalf of The Community Fund of Darien, I would like to thank our Darien residents for their generous contributions during the third annual “Most Generous Town” competition, our friendly rivalry with the New Canaan Community Foundation which raises much-needed funds for local nonprofit organizations. Thanks to your donations, we raised over $300,000 for both organizations, which will be allocated through grants to the local charities where it will have the greatest impact in our community. While we are happy to bring the “Turkey Trophy” back to Darien, we are even more thrilled to continue supporting these programs addressing hunger, homelessness, self-sufficiency, youth success, and community initiatives.

We would also like to thank Nola Physical Therapy for underwriting the Turkey Bowl rally towels sold by the Youth Community Fund and the Darien Sport Shop, Palmer’s and Vavala’s for hosting our sales. All proceeds, which added to our final winning total, will help fund the students’ grant funding pool. Finally, thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who made this event possible for a third successful year.
