To the Editor:

Writing in my personal capacity I would like to acknowledge the fight being waged by Natalie Tallis against the removal by Eversource of more than 40 trees on Little Brook Road.

In a clumsy sudden move, notices were placed on the doomed trees and potential objections were restricted to be, in writing, within 10 days of the posting.

Bird populations are in decline and the trees in question make up the canopied section of a bird haven, an ecosystem that supports an astonishing number of (especially migrating) birds.

Birders and their cameras know the delight and viewing benefit of Little Brook Road

One can understand the need to trim trees below high voltage transmission lines, but to simply destroy so many decades of growth, is crude and drastic.

Darien residents have a history of saving environmental gems in our town and I hope Natalie’s efforts are successful in preserving this valuable habitat area.
