Walter Kidde II of Darien and Hobe Sound, FL died July 21st. He was 85. It was announced by his long time companion, Ann Dorrell, also of Darien. He was born on August 14, 1928 the son of Ervin Hence and Walter Kidde.

Mr. Kidde also known as Skip, graduated from St. Lawerence University. He joined the army in the 82nd Air-borne Division as a paratrooper. Then he worked in construction for his grandfather, who invented the fire extinguisher.

The Kidde Corp. became a billion conglomerate, the world’s largest manufacturer of fire safety products. Skip built the Johnson & Johnson plant in Europe where he continued working for the Kidde Corp. Skip loved sailing and started a small business on the Jersey Shore. He also spent his summers sailing in West Hampton Beach, NY.

The memorial service will be August 6th, 11am at the Summer Chapel in Quogue, NY.
