Theodora Cogswell (Do) Deland of Darien, Connecticut, died at the Stamford Hospital on November 20, 2018, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage the previous Friday. Her family was at her bedside. Minutes before passing away she received prayers from the minister of St. Luke’s Parish, where she had been a member since 1950.
She lived 95 years and 14 days after the date of her birth on November 6, 1923. She is predeceased by her father, James Kelsey Cogswell II, a co-inventor of platform tennis, and her mother, Francesca Heffenger Cogswell, both of Scarsdale, New York and Kittery, Maine, by her brother, James Kelsey Cogswell III of West Palm Beach, Florida, and by her husband of 66 years, Rawle Deland.
