Sharon Errico Shmanda age 67, beloved wife of John W. Shmanda of Norwalk, passed away April 13, 2013, Palm Sunday, with her husband of 37 years by her side. She was born in Norwalk on December 27, 1946 and was the loving daughter of the late Anthony C. & Hazel Sloan Errico.

She attended Norwalk Public Schools and graduated from Brian McMahon High School, graduating with the class of 1964. She was active in working on her high school reunion committee.

Sharon was inspired by a teacher which led her to pursue a career in the teaching profession. She attended Central Connecticut State University where she received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation she was thrilled to obtain a teaching position in the city she grew up in. Sharon taught at Silvermine, Honeyhill and Rowayton elementary schools teaching a combination of 1st and 2nd grade and kindergarten. She taught in the school system for 37 years, spending the last 25 years of her teaching career at Rowayton Elementary School, where she taught kindergarten before retiring in 2005. When Sharon did retire she was honored by the Rowayton Community for her years of service. A news article in the Norwalk Hour which appeared in the June 12th edition at that time proclaimed “Beloved Teacher Retires”. As well as teaching she continued her education by attending Southern Connecticut State University where she obtained a Master’s Degree+45 in Education and Speech. Her greatest joy from teaching came at the kindergarten level and seeing her students develop their educational potential. She was always rewarded later in life when hearing from students she had taught during her career.

During her retirement Sharon enjoyed traveling, reading (especially mysteries), and being with friends and family. She will be greatly missed by her family, all of her friends and all who knew her. Sharon will also be missed by her beloved canine companion Drew, who was always by her side.

Survivors in addition to her loving husband include two uncles, Joseph Errico of Norwalk and Michael Errico of Sparta, NJ. In addition she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine & Richard Mester of Monroe; cousins Robert & Louise Duplessis of New Fairfield, Kathy & Bill Granata of New Milford, Laura & Fred Coppola of Sparta, NJ, Mark Errico and his wife Abby of Norwalk.
