Obituary: Sara Barbara Coudray Stauffer, 88, long-time Darien resident
Sara Barbara Coudray Stauffer, a long-time Darien resident and volunteer, died at home Sunday, May 20. She was 88.
Born April 1, 1924, in Hartford, she was the daughter of Helene Weld and Col. Wyman F. Coudray.
Mrs. Stauffer was an active volunteer and member of many Darien organizations including the Darien Community Association and Darien Book-Aid. She was an avid bridge and tennis player, her family said. She also loved gardening and travel, which she and her husband did extensively.
Mrs. Stauffer is survived by her sister, Ann Uttaro of Waltham, Mass.; her daughter, Nancy Cahoon of Darien; her son, David Stauffer of Darien; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James D. Stauffer.
The memorial services will be private. Mrs. Stauffer will be buried at Spring Grove Cemetery. Edward Lawrence Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
