Rosamond Hammer Fouser died at her home in Branford on Sunday, Jan. 12, three days short of her 87th birthday, in the company of her family.

She was a native of Branford — the daughter of the late Eugenie Bauer Enquist and Forrester L. Hammer and a step of the state Roy C. Enquist. Her devoted husband, life-long friend and companion, George W. Fouser, survives her.

Mrs. Fouser was educated at Hamden Hall Country Day School in New Haven and at Yale Music School. She resided in Darien for 40 years and returned to Branford in 1999.

She was pre-deceased by her brother, A.E. Hammer II and sons, Jonathan and Christian.

In addition to her husband, George, she is survived by a sister, Gretl Worthy, of Rockland, Maine and two daughters, Anneliese Vladic of Short Beach (Branford), and Jocelyn Summerton, and her husband, Douglas, of Guilford. She is also survived by her son, Julian, and his wife Ellen, and by sons Mark, Andrew and Nathaniel, all of Branford.

She leaves six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Church, Branford, on Friday, Jan 24 at 11 a.m.
