Obituary: Patricia G. McClancy, 81, dedicated school volunteer, worked on Darien elections
Patricia G. McClancy of Darien died on January 10, 2017 at the age of 81.
Mrs. McClancy was born on April 24, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, to Patrick and Mary Giannone. After attending New York City public schools she was a student at the Flower-Fifth Avenue School of Nursing of the New York Medical College, Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals. After graduating in 1955 she qualified as a registered nurse and worked in Manhattan for several years.
In 1960 she married Edward J. McClancy, who predeceased her. In 1967 she, her husband and their son, Christopher, moved to Darien, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
During her time in Darien she was a dedicated school volunteer at the Baker and Hindley elementary schools, Mather Junior High School, and the Darien High School. For several years she was an active member of the Darien Community Association and the Saint John's Church Women's Guild. Mrs. McClancy also worked, in numerous primaries and elections, as an election worker for the Darien Registrars of Voters.
She is survived by her son, Christopher McClancy, her granddaughter, Melanie McClancy, and her sister, Loretta Giannone, all of Darien.
Mrs. McClancy will be interred with her husband at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
