Patricia Ann Wakim died peacefully at home on March 29, 2018 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Patti, as she was best known, was born on June 7, 1938 to the late William Donald Lambert and Evelyn Carter Lambert. An only child, she was raised in Bristol, CT and graduated from Saint Anthony’s High School in 1956. Later that year she was crowned Miss Bristol.

She went on to the University of Bridgeport where she studied art and met the man of her dreams, Edward John Wakim. They married shortly after graduation in July 1960 and moved to Long Island where they established their roots. It was there that they raised three children and enjoyed 41 wonderful years together until Ed’s passing in March of 2002.

Patti started her career as an art teacher in the Patchogue-Medford Public School District but soon after returned to her first love of dance with the opening of the Patricia Wakim School of Dance. She loved all things dance and musical theater and was known for her ability to recreate Broadway stage numbers for her annual recitals.

Patti was a great friend to many, incredibly creative, and her zest for life was manifested in her boundless energy. Upon retirement in the early 1990’s, they wintered at Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs, FL. It was there that they enjoyed many years together golfing, making lifelong friends, and hosting their children and grandchildren.

Patti is survived by her three children, Kim (Tom) Sheridan and Jon (Ashley) Wakim both of Darien, and Chris (Nan) Wakim of Simi Valley, CA. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Luke and Niall Sheridan; Cole and Connor Wakim; and Grace, Benjamin and Evelyn Wakim.

A wake is scheduled at Robertaccio Funeral Home in Patchogue, NY on April 27, from 5-7 PM. A memorial service will be held at Mary Immaculate Church in Bellport, NY on Saturday, April 28 at 11 AM.
