Nancy Luan Carter Bishop, of Darien, CT, Estero FL, Milford and most recently Hamden, CT, passed peacefully in her sleep on October 23, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 89-years-old.

Nancy is survived by three sons, Andy and his wife Kelly, Bill and his wife Robin, and Brad. She had two grandchildren from Bill and Robin, Jesse and Jonathan, and two really great-grandchildren, Ryan and Morgan. She is also survived by her nephew Thompson Shea and his wife Debbie and their daughter Meagan, and her niece Luan Shea’s daughters Emily, Laura and Caitlin. She passed shortly after her favorite niece Luan passed and was also predeceased by her sister Jean.

She was the younger daughter of Ray and Bertha Carter, also of Darien.

Nancy will always be remembered for her winning smile and her ability to find a connection with almost anybody by talking about almost anything. She had a very broad and diverse group of friends, many of which she had known for decades. She was particularly fond of Lexey Carter, a roommate from college who traveled with Nancy to many exotic places around the globe.

Nancy was a graduate of Darien High School and the University of Maine at Orono.
