Obituary: Margaret P. Rudisill, 88
Rudisill Margaret P., age 88, passed away on May 27, 2015 inGreenwich. She was born in Savannah on January 12, 1927, the daughter of Margaret Maxwell Clay Pirtle and Col. James Julian Pirtle, Sr., USA.
As an “Army Brat,” she lived in The Philippines during the 1930’s, post-war Germany, and Governor’s Island (NY) during the late 1940’s. She attended Agnes Scott College (Class of 1948), and was married to Edward L. Rudisill until 1988.
In the 1970’s, they enjoyed the life of “ex-pats” in Paris; thereafter they returned to their home in Darien. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn C. Swiggart of Greenwich and Nancy R. Ziegler of Dorset, VT, their husbands, John A. Wayt, III and W. Thomas Ziegler, and three grandchildren, LT James H. Swiggart, USN, W. Maxwell Ziegler and Alexandra A. Ziegler.
She was recently predeceased by her brother, James J. Pirtle, Jr. Services will be private in Savannah. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Daughters of the Cincinnati Scholarship Fund, 20 West 44th Street, #508, NY, NY 10036. By the family.
