Linda Elsie Evans, a longtime resident of Darien, CT, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2013 at her home in Glenview, IL.

Linda was born in New York City and grew up in Pelham, NY. After graduating from Katherine Gibbs and the New School, she was hired by the Radio and TV Promotion Group at Young & Rubicam where she was in charge of publicizing TV shows and entertaining stars like Bob Hope and Lucille Ball.

Eventually, Linda met and married her husband, George, whom she met at a Valentine's Day party 58 years ago. She left Madison Avenue, but it never left her. She worked at Women's Wear Daily magazine and later became an editor for several trade magazines at Charleston Publishing in Darien and Cleworth Publishing in Old Greenwich. She also worked as a real estate agent at Kelly & Associates and was an active member of Darien Book Aid Plan.

Linda will be remembered for her bubbly personality, infectious laugh and deep love for her family. When she wasn't cooking delicious meals or sipping tea with a friend, she was singing with her chorus at the Dogwood Festival in Fairfield or traveling to Europe to visit relatives. She told George soon after they met that life would never be dull with her. It certainly wasn't!

George predeceased Linda in January of 2012. She is survived by her daughters Leslie Evans Thorne and Kathy Evans Wisner, son-in-laws Landon Thorne and David Wisner, and grandchildren Emily and Luke Wisner.

A memorial service will be held in Rowayton in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, an organization in New Hampshire dedicated to protecting the loons that Linda loved.
