We lost a friend in Larry Magnant when he passed away on Tuesday the 24th of March of complications following surgery for a sudden brain hemorrhage.

Larry was born on April 8, 1949 in Summit New Jersey and was raised in Darien, CT. He graduated Darien High School (class of ‘67) and Lafayette College (class of ‘71). A devoted husband, father and friend, Larry took great joy in golf, travel and family time.

Larry worked for 35 years in the reinsurance brokerage industry getting his start at Lloyds of London. Later he was asked to start John F. Sullivan Company, New York for the Seattle-based firm. Together with his wife Byllie Ann he began Magnant Re Intermediaries, Inc in 1979. After selling the company in 1990, Larry became Executive Vice President of General Reinsurance Intermediaries, a division of General Re, Corp. where he worked for fourteen years. In 2004, after a very brief period of retirement and a move to Williamsburg, VA, Larry and Byllie Ann decided to start Two Rivers Re.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Byllie Ann Magnant, his daughters Alicia Magnant Leach and Nicole Magnant Morrissey, his mother Betty Magnant, his twin sister Jane Magnant Morrow, sister Lynn Reynolds, and brother Rick Magnant.

In lieu of flowers we encourage a donation to the Lackey Free Clinic, a wonderful organization that provides healthcare to working families who cannot afford health insurance.
