Obituary: Lainey Patterson Allen, long-time resident, technical illustrator
Lainey Patterson Allen, a 21 year resident of Darien, Connecticut and 22-year resident of Estero, Florida, died October 18, 2015 at Heritage Hospice in Marietta, Georgia.
Lainey was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on February 28, 1935 to Elaine (Tibbetts) Patterson and Horace Justin Patterson of Brookhaven, N.Y. and Southbury, CT. She was a graduate of Rosemary Hall in Greenwich, Conn. and from Bennett Junior College, class of 1955, in Millbrook, N.Y.
She enjoyed a career as a technical illustrator at the Brookhaven Lab, N.Y., and Cushing and Nevell in New York City. Lainey also worked for many years in the advertising department of the Darien-News Review.
Lainey is survived by her sister Judith Todd (Patterson) Lanyi and her husband William Lanyi of Westport, Connecticut, her aunt, Helen (Tibbetts) Patterson of Ft. Myers, FL, loving cousins, nephews and three children: Lainey Tibbetts (Allen) Keane and husband John Keane of Sea Girt, N.J.; Elizabeth Laird (Allen) Almy and her husband Sean Almy of Woodstock, GA.; and Kimberly Johnston (Allen) Carvalho and her husband Michael Carvalho of Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA. Also by seven grandchildren: Robert Green McCollum III, Reid Garrett McCollum, William Grant McCollum, Taylor Elizabeth Almy, Bennett Hayes Almy, Kendall Lorraine Carvalho and Zachary Allen Carvalho.
A memorial service will be held at Southern Cremations & Funerals, 1861 Dallas Highway, Marietta, Georgia, 30064 at 2:00PM on November 14, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heritage Hospice, 3315 Hilltop Drive, Marietta, GA 30066.
