Jessie Walker Searles, a former Darienite, died at Wilton Meadows in Wilton on Sunday, Sept. 9. She was 95.

Mrs. Searles, who was affectionately known as Jay, was born on March 17, 1917, in Rouses Point, N.Y. She was the youngest daughter of Edwin James and Nettie Mussen Walker.

She and her beloved husband, Arthur D. Searles, who died in 1992, raised their family in Hewlett and Garden City, Long Island, N.Y. Mrs. Searles devoted her life to her extended family, her family said.

In 2000, Mrs. Searles moved to Atria Senior Living in Darien, where she made many friends and became an active member of the community. She enjoyed oil painting and ceramics classes, baking and knitting groups and taking day trips. She was an avid Mets fan and loved word games, puzzles and playing cards, especially Pinochle. She also read extensively.

Mrs. Searles is survived by her daughters, Pamela Miller and her husband Albert of Wilton; Patricia Searles-Kelly and her husband Steve of Whitewater, Wis.; and Donna Searles of Providence, R.I. She is also survived by her two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Friday, Sept. 14, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

A service will follow at 5:30 with Rev. Cynthia Bell officiating. Burial will be private.
