Janina M. Peliksza died on June 30, in Valrico, Fla. Born in 1924 in Poland, she married Stanley Peliksza, a U.S. Army soldier working with UNRRA in Germany in 1945 and immigrated to the United States, where she raised six children in Darien.

After moving with her family to Florida in 1975, Mrs. Peliksza, often referred to as “the cookie lady,” owned Chateau Chocolat in Brandon, Fla. during the 1980s. Preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; son, Gary; and daughter, Rosemarie (John) Sunden, she is survived by four children, Ken Peliksza, Janine Peliksza, Jim (Ashlee) Peliksza, Lisa (Bill) Hernandez; two grand-children, Christine and Jay (Aly) Sunden; and one niece, Jasia (Leszek) Zaremba. Private burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery on Friday, Aug. 8.
