Obituary: James Caldarone Sr., father of Darien resident, World War II vet
James Caldarone, Sr, age 94, died on Sunday, June 26, with his wife Mary Tamburri Caldarone by his side. The couple would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on Aug. 8, 2016. Jim also leaves behind one son, James Jr of Darien, three daughters, Barbara (Michael) Hamilton of Schenectady, New York, Louise (Richard) Deenihan of West Suffield, and Gail Miller of Pittsford, New York. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one sister, Mary Billone, three brothers, Frank, Anthony and Nicholas Caldarone and one son-in-law James Miller.
Mr. Caldarone lived in Stamford most of his life and retired from Tom Brock Corporation in 1991 having managed White Towers, The Sittin' Room and Brock's Restaurant. Mr. Caldarone was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army from November 1942 to December 1945 as part of the 257th Engineer Combat Battalion.
A mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Church, Stamford on Thursday, June 30. Burial with full military honors followed at Parsonage Cemetery, Greenwich.
