Harold Wilson Copeland, a lifelong resident of Darien, died on Wednesday, Feb. 4,  at Smith House in Stamford. Born on Aug. 24, 1928 in North Hempstead, New York, he was the son of the late Robert and Lily Victoria (Wilson) Copeland. He was 86.

Mr. Copeland graduated from Darien High School in 1946. He retired from Southern New England Telephone Company where he worked as an installer and repairman for over 35 years. Mr. Copeland was a member of the Turn of River Presbyterian Church in Stamford.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean (Shields) Copeland of Darien; two sons, Kenneth Copeland and his wife Jennifer of Norwalk; Ronald Copeland and his wife Mary of Shorewood, Minnesota; one daughter, Linda Kornmeyer of Trumbull, and seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Copeland is also survived by a sister, Margaret Reddy of Denver, Colorado. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Copeland.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
