Frieda Jane Newton Reed, a life-long resident of Darien, died on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Stamford Hospital. Born March 14, 1942 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Louis Lawrence and Alice Loretta (La Rosa) Bianco. She was 72. Mrs. Reed loved to cook, especially Italian food and loved to travel and dance. She authored the book Color Me Thursday. Mrs. Reed was also the former owner of Heads Up Plus Beauty Salon in Wilton. Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband, Alan Lee Reed, of Darien; her son, Michael L. Newton of New Haven; her daughter Melissa A. Newton Honiss of South Glastonbury; and her step-daughter Sandra G. Newton of Fairfield. She is also survived by two brothers — Daniel L. Bianco of Darien and Louis L. Bianco, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; and two sisters Marie P. Brown and Alice L. Bianco both of Darien. The family received friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Nov. 13.
