Elizabeth Miller Palen, long-time, past resident of Darien, passed away on March 22. She was born in Purdy's, New York to Walter and May Miller. She lived at Evergreen Woods in North Branford for the past 15 years. While residing in Darien, she was president of the Public Health Nursing Association, chairman of Fund Raising for Darien Book Aid Plan, and volunteer at the Darien thrift shop.

She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni association, Daughters of the American Revolution, and P.E.O. She received her B.A. at Middlebury College and later attended New York University where she received her MS Degree in Microbiology. After years of education, she worked at Indiana University under Nobel Laureate Salvador Luria and then the Rockefeller Institute. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Palen.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda, formerly of Darien, grandson Neal and daughter-in-law Sheryl, plus great grandsons Graham and Riley all of Colorado, as well as many close friends. A farewell reception was held on Friday, March 27 at Evergreen Woods,  North Branford.
